Training for the disability sector
Disability Services Queensland is committed to providing effective and responsive training opportunities for non-government service providers through the Training for the Disability Sector initiative.
Training will provide non-government staff with professional development opportunities and support the continuous quality improvement of disability services through promotion of best practice.
This will strengthen the capability of the disability services sector by enhancing the skills, capabilities and career pathways of workers within the sector.
A range of free training events are now available to staff of non-government service providers as found in the table below.

Supporting People with Complex Needs (Specialist Disability Training) |
This course provides disability support workers with specialist skills to support people with complex needs. Participants will learn how to utilise specialist communication skills and strategies to manage challenging behaviour. | |
| Information Technology Management (Management Program) | This management program provides knowledge and skills to effectively manage an organisation's finances, accounts and resources, coordinate information systems and meet statutory and organisational information requirements. |

Community Services Management (Management Program) |
Course participants will gain knowledge and skills to effectively carry out a management role in a community services organisation. Learning topics include: coordinating the provision of services and programs, coordinating the work environment, coordinating disability work, managing organisational change and, reviewing and developing business plans. | Directions Australia |
Managing Occupational Health and Safety requirements in the workplace (Management Program) |
This program is designed for potential managers, OH&S committee members and OH&S representatives. Participants will learn how to implement and monitor OH&S policies and procedures, and strategies to manage risk in the workplace. | Directions Australia |
