About the strategy

Throughout their lives all Queenslanders will use services from, work or volunteer for, or have some other involvement with a non-government organisation (NGO). These organisations include sports clubs, childcare organisations, neighbourhood programs, crisis support, disability-related organisations and many more.

Many non-government community and disability organisations are funded by the Queensland Government to provide specific services to the public and can play vital roles in ensuring the well-being of Queenslanders.

The Strengthening Non-Government Organisations strategy was launched by the Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Seniors and Youth in August 2005.
