Day services
The objective of the Day Services initiative is to provide developmental day services for people with a disability through partnerships between the department and non-government service providers. These services include:
- community access
- skills development
- adult education
- recreational/leisure groups
- pre-vocational activities
A copy of the Day Services Initiative Manual is also available to download. The manual provides guidelines for funded non-government service providers for the delivery of services through this initiative.
History of the Day Services Initiative:
In 2007-08 $1.15 million in recurrent and one-off funding was allocated to 5 non-government service providers to increase service delivery in the following locations:
- Brisbane - Centacare Disability Services
- Gold Coast - House With No Steps
- Sunshine Coast - Interact Australia
- Bundaberg - Bundaberg Skills Centre
- Rockhampton - Home Support Association
In 2006-07 $4 million was allocated to funded non-government service providers to provide services in the following locations throughout Queensland:
- Biloela - Endeavour Foundation
- Brisbane - Access Arts Inc
- Brisbane - Community Living Association
- Brisbane - Montrose Access
- Brisbane - Spiritus Care A Place to Belong
- Caboolture - Homelife Association Inc
- Cairns - Leisure Connections Association Inc
- Caloundra - The Aikido Institute
- Eagleby - Foundation for Independence Recreation and Social Training
- Hervey Bay and Camira - Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland
- Hervey Bay - Centacare Fraser Coast
- Hope Vale - Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council
- Ipswich - Focal Extended Inc
- Mackay - Mackay and District Education Centre
- Oxley and Stones Corner - Westside Community Services
- Palm Island - New Way Agencies Pty Ltd
- Pine Rivers Shire - Multicap
- Roma - Anglicare - Enable Lifestyle Support
- Shepherd / Gold Coast - Centacare Community Services
- Stanthorpe - Granite Belt Support Services
