Training fund
The Disability Sector Training Fund was established following approval in May 1999 for the development of a training fund to meet a range of training and skills development needs for the non-government sector.
The Fund is auspiced by the Health and Community Services Workforce Council and is operated through a community engagement model supporting ten regional coalitions throughout Queensland. Members of the regional coalitions use a training needs analysis approach to determine training and skills development needs at the local level.
The coalitions are in the following regions:
- South West Queensland
- Ipswich
- Brisbane
- Wide Bay-Burnett
- Remote North West Queensland
- North Queensland
- South Coast
- North Coast
- Central Queensland
- Far North Queensland
The primary target groups of the Disability Sector Training Fund are:
- Paid staff, management committee and volunteers of community-based organisations that receive funding from DSQ.
- Unpaid carers and parents or others involved in the provision of direct care to people with a disability.
