The Resident Support Program is an initiative to support people with a disability who live in private residential services such as hostels and boarding houses.
Queensland Health and Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) have funded community-based agencies to deliver services in six areas of Queensland. The services are available in Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Townsville and Sunshine Coast.
Who is eligible for services under the Resident Support Program?
A person is eligible to receive services through the Resident Support Program if they;
- live in a private residential service such as a hostel or boarding house; and
- are eligible to receive Home and Community Care (HACC) support; or
- are eligible to receive Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) services.
Support available through the Resident Support Program
Assistance will be provided to eligible people living in private residential services through:
Lifestyle Support Service
Supports socially isolated people to develop or rebuild relationships in their communities through activities that are meaningful for them, for example suitable social, educational, recreational and vocational opportunities. Community Linking aims to enhance opportunities for people to participate in community activities by working with organisations, services or clubs to facilitate links between members and the activity.
Lifestyle support also assists people with personal care, including showering, continence management and grooming, it may also include assistance to organise personal space.
Key Support Workers
Supports people to access primary health care and a range of non-health related services and facilitating links to community based services.
