Sharing success and learning to improve
Participants were asked the question "What mechanisms do you think should be used to share the successful implementation of this Policy?"
There were many and varied responses to this questions, with some major themes emerging. The need for on-going evaluation and review of the Policy was seen as critical as was informing carers of progress and changes. There were some very practical suggestions about how to do this including holding regular community talks, distributing newsletters and establishing websites and discussion boards.
Carers wanted to continue to be consulted and suggested that government departments and/or service providers could implement carer satisfaction surveys. Some participants commented that government would know if the Policy is effective if the number of complaints reduced.
Some specific comments about ways of evaluating the Policy were made and have been collected in one document for consideration by the Interdepartmental Committee.
Sharing Success - other comments
Participants were asked "Do you have any other comments on how the Queensland Government can share the success and identified areas for future improvement of this Policy?". The main themes that emerged were carers' requests for ongoing consultation and for an awareness raising campaign to make all government departments, service providers and the general community aware of the role of carers.
