Scope and purpose
Participants were asked "Does the scope and purpose of the draft Policy provide an adequate foundation on which to create a Government carer recognition framework?"
A majority of individuals and organisations stated they believe that scope and purpose provide an adequate foundation on which to create a Government carer recognition framework. The results are summarised in Table Two.
| Scope and Purpose provide adequate foundation | Individual | Organisation |
|---|---|---|
| Supported | 71 (65.1%) | 14 (63.6%) |
| Not supported | 24 (22.0%) | 5 (22.7%) |
| Did not respond | 14 (12.9%) | 3 (13.6%) |
Some participants stated their support was conditional on the policy being implemented and 7.6% stated that they wanted actions and services, not just words.
Additional comments participants made were that the policy needed monitoring and evaluation; and that it needed a balance between carers' needs and the rights of care recipients.
