Policy context

Participants were asked the following question "Is the outline of the policy and legislative context adequate for you and others to understand the environment in which a Carer Recognition Policy would operate?"

A majority of individuals and organisations stated they believe that the policy and legislative context is adequate to understand the environment in which a Carer Recognition Policy will operate. The results are summarised in Table Five below.

Table Five: Support for policy and legislative context
Policy and legislative context adequate Individuals Organisations
Supported 72 (66.1%) 12 (54.5%)
Not supported 21 (19.3%) 6 (27.3%)
Did not respond 16 (14.7%) 4 (18.2%)

Some participants indicated that there was not enough detail to indicate how the policy would be implemented and others made their support for the policy context conditional on it being implemented. A small number of participants still wanted to see legislation developed.
