Demographic data

Demographic data was only collected for individuals who submitted Consultation Feedback Booklet. It was not collected for organisations or people who attended the consultation meetings. There were a small number of couples who completed the Consultation Feedback Booklet who have been treated as an individual response for the data analysis. In total there were 131 respondents.

Age and gender

Of the individuals who submitted a Consultation Feedback Booklet (16.0%) were male and 78 (59.5%) were female. From Figure One it can be seen that the majority of males (66.7%) and females (57.7%) were aged between 45 and 64 years.

Organisation Information

The organisations that prepared written responses represented a variety of different people and issues including frail aged, people with a physical or medical disability and people with a mental illness. The Queensland Council of Carers, which is the peak advocacy group for unpaid and family carers, presented a written submission on behalf of its members.

The Australian Pensioners and Superannuants League, which is one of the peak advocacy groups representing pensioners, presented a submission on behalf of older carers. Advocacy groups such as the Council on the Ageing Queensland and the Association for Relatives and Friends of the Mentally Ill were not able to prepare a written submission, but some members of these organisations attended the consultation meetings or completed Consultation Feedback Booklet.

Of the 22 organisations that submitted written responses, 16 stated that their response incorporated the views of many people (ranging from 3 to 3,000 persons). One of the organisations represented people who speak a language other than English at home.
