Office for Carers
The Office for Carers was established in December 2008 following the Carers (Recognition) Act 2008 becoming law. The Office supports the government's focus on the recognition of carers' needs and concerns as well as their role in service delivery. The Office will provide secretariat support to the Carers Advisory Council as well as support the Council in its consultation and research agenda.
The Office is the central point of contact, within the Queensland Government, for the community in respect to Queensland Government carers' services and initiatives such as Queensland Government Carer Recognition Policy, Queensland Government Carer Action Plan 2006-2010 and the Queensland Carers Charter. The Office has a key role in assisting Queensland Government departments and statutory authorities to ensure that their employees have awareness and understanding of the Government's carers' policies.
