Introduction

This booklet is designed as a resource to accompany and assist the implementation of the policy and procedures document on Preventing and responding to the abuse, assault and neglect of people with a disability.

The booklet comprises key indicators to alert staff to the possible existence of abuse, assault or neglect and advise of the reporting options available. It also contains a list of further readings that agencies or staff members may wish to undertake to further inform themselves of the depth of the problem and the research into preventative measures.

A glossary and key terms is also included to assist service providers and people with a disability with the use of a common language for all.
