Remembering Roy ‘the lad’ – a great paralympian

Roy Fowler - a great paralympian Roy Fowler - a great paralympian.

Roy Fowler's love of sports took him from Tokyo and Tel-Aviv to Heidelberg and Toronto as one of Australia 's paralympian.

Yet, despite a swag of gold medals - more than 100 in total - and a career spanning 40 years and a number of sports including javelin, shot put, discus, table tennis, swimming and his beloved archery, it is for his loveable larrikinism that those who were close to him remember him most fondly.

While Roy passed away last year, his legend lives on - and just this month he was posthumously awarded the title of "Greatest Athlete with a Disability Award" at the Greatest Ever Sports Stars evening in Brisbane.
