Sector support
The Disability Sector Quality System project team has established partnerships with key stakeholders to support service providers to implement and maintain their quality management systems. Partners include:
NDS Queensland
A joint project between Disability Services Queensland and NDS Queensland (formerly ACROD (Qld)), has been in place since June 2004 to support service providers to engage with the quality system and build a foundation of understanding of the system and its requirements.
The department and NDS Queensland have worked together to build the capacity and capability of the sector. NDS Queensland has provided direct support (e.g. workshops, one-to-one support), resources (e.g. quality website, policy and procedure development), information (e.g. NDS quality newsletter) and continues to build networks between service providers.
The NDS quality project offers ongoing support to service providers following certification under the quality system to integrate continuous improvement throughout their service.
The NDS Queensland works with regions across the sector to support:
- identifying good practice
- sharing information and benchmarking
- ongoing innovation and creation
- facilitating peer support, mentoring links and partnerships.

Capability Queensland
Capability Queensland is a business initiative of the Cerebral Palsy League and delivers consulting and training services across Queensland. Capability Queensland is currently engaged by the department to provide awareness raising training on the quality system to certification bodies and audit-trained service users.

Community resource officers
The department’s community resource officers are the first point of contact to support service providers in implementing and maintaining their quality management systems.
Community resource officers can assist service providers by:
- working with them in achieving outcomes within each step of the quality system
- supporting them in identifying and prioritising developmental needs to meet the requirements of the quality system
- acting as liaison between service providers to facilitate sharing of information and partnerships
- providing access to written and other resources, like quality management tools, templates, and generic policies and review tools to assist in the implementation of the quality system
- tracking the progress of a service’s quality management system implementation to ensure that planning, skill development and change management are advancing according to timeframes and that suitable resources are allocated
- acting as a liaison between a service provider and the quality system project team about issues that may affect their region or the sector.
