Standards
There are three standards, each available to certain service types, within the Disability Sector Quality System:
The flexibility provided by these options caters for the diverse range of service types and settings in the Queensland disability sector.
The quality system framework integrates three conceptual domains:
- rights (human and legal)
- individual (direct service delivery)
- organisation (management and staff as it relates to the disability sector).
These domains are applied to both the Queensland Disability Service Standards (QDSS) and the Queensland Disability Advocacy Standards (QDAS) in the following way:
| Domain | Function | QDSS and QDAS |
|---|---|---|
| individual | direct service delivery | 1,2,5,6 |
| rights | human and lega | 3,4,7,9 |
| organisation | management and staff | 8, 10 |
Standards comparison tool
The Standards comparison tool maps the QDSS to four quality frameworks:
- National Disability Service Standards
- Home and Community Care National Service Standards
- Veterans Home Care Standards
- AS/NZ ISO 9001:2000.
Systems and processes already in place to support other quality frameworks may also be used as evidence against the QDSS. This tool highlights potential sources of evidence from these alternative frameworks at a broad level that could be added to the evidence gathered by an organisation to demonstrate they meet the QDSS.
