Public benefit test
An overview of the Disability Services Act 2006 for Queensland
The Queensland Parliament recently passed the Disability Services Act 2006 to strengthen and safeguard the rights of people with a disability. The legislation applies to service providers funded by Disability Services Queensland.
If you would like to participate in the consultation process, or for more information contact us.
The Queensland Government has appointed an independent consultant, Synergies Economic Consulting to conduct a public benefit test as an independent evaluation to assess the potential impact of further regulation of all Queensland disability service providers.
The aim of the public benefit test is to examine:
- options to determine whether increased regulation would be in the public interest
- the relative merits of increased regulation including the potential costs benefits to consumers, service providers and the community.
Relevant industry and businesses are invited to comment on the issues paper through written submissions.
