A Centre of Excellence for Behaviour Support
The Centre of Excellence for Behaviour Support is part of the Queensland Government's $113 million four-year response to the report by the Honourable WJ Carter QC, Challenging Behaviours and Disability - A Targeted Response. In partnership with the University of Queensland, it is working to provide the evidential basis for delivery and ongoing development of the Specialist Response Service.
The centre is leading research and providing specialist knowledge and expertise to:
- develop policies and resources for best practice in positive behaviour support
- provide learning and development programs for specialist and support staff in services provided and funded by the department
- monitor the effectiveness of practice
- create and promote tertiary education pathways that help develop the skills required for positive behaviour support in disability services.
