Growing Stronger: Investing in a better disability service systemThrough the Growing Stronger reform initiative Disability Services will implement a range of improvements to develop fair access by people with a disability to specialist disability services that will improve their capacity to remain a vital part of their community.
Growing Stronger: Investing in a better disability service system (PDF 840 kB) explains the vision behind the reforms which will lead to an improved specialist disability service system.
Key features of the new system will include:
- easier ways to apply for services funded by the Queensland Government via a single application form
- a professional assessment process for all applicants
- tailored service responses for individuals
- better information systems to ensure fair and sustainable service delivery.

Consultation guided reforms
Many of the Growing Stronger reforms reflect feedback and recommendations made by people with a disability, their families and carers, and the disability sector, through various forums. This includes the Have Your Say consultation, Shared Visions conferences, and advice from Disability Councils.
