John Gallaghan (Townsville)

Strong and Proud - promoting awareness of the experience of Indigenous people with a disability, thanks to the support of Disability Services Queensland.
Narrator:
If you're a real estate agent, landscaper or builder in Townsville, then you may have met John Gallaghan at Endeavour Business Service Townsville. John's a Murri man with an intellectual disability, one of a group of people who work at Endeavour each day making and painting wooden stakes and pegs, shredding documents, sorting rags and refurbishing Qantas headsets.
John Gallaghan:
"I'm pointing all them sticks, I'm doing. I got to do them all. The guys over in the painting area, they're painting them – white paint. They paint with white paint 'cause they're painting all the white sticks. I use the pop-up sort and when I use... and that in the back and see the one I use and that's the one I use, it's got sharp blades and that, that's pointing both sides, and I'm stacking them there. "
Narrator:
John enjoys the work he does each day, as well as his interaction with the other workers.
John Gallaghan:
"Oh, everything's good for me working here, yeah. The people are all right – the people are all right. Good mates here at work, good place to work, you see, good place to work."
Narrator:
