What does the Plan cover?

The Plan pays particular attention to where the built environment may affect access, how information is provided, the processes used to develop policies and practices, and equitable employment opportunities for people with a disability. It also aligns with the department's social justice and equal opportunity principles and the Government's broader social justice agenda.

The following goals form the basis of the Plan:

The Plan outlines strategies and actions associated with these goals, and identifies who will take responsibility for ensuring these actions are carried out in the given timeframe.

How was the Plan developed?

...a 'living document' that has evolved with the growth and development of DSQ.

This Plan builds on the previous Disability Discrimination Action Plan 2003-05. It was developed following a review of what actions were successful, what actions require strengthening, and what additional actions would add value. It is a 'living document' that has evolved with the growth and development of Disability Services Queensland (DSQ).

The 2003-05 Plan was developed through a consultative process involving people with a disability, their families and carers, non-government organisations, and DSQ staff. As part of its development, a comprehensive audit was conducted of our offices and facilities, programs and policies, and information products and resources in 2001-02. A Discrimination Action Plan Reference Group oversaw the audit and consultation activities.
