Goal 2: Accessible information

Information developed by or for DSQ is equitably available to people with a disability.

Strategy 2

To ensure public departmental information is provided in a range of styles that take account of the particular needs people may have as a result of their cultural background, language, disability or location.

Actions

2.1 Develop policy and guidelines for communicating with and publishing for people with a disability.

2.2 Involve people with a disability in the development of communication campaigns.

2.3 Ensure all new promotional materials, reports, publications and information conform to the new guidelines.

2.4 Develop policy, procedures and guidelines for ensuring information published through internet sites and browser-based applications can be accessed by people who use assistive devices and by geographically dispersed clients.

2.5 Conduct a feasibility and impact assessment of people with a disability in the usability testing of departmental internet sites and browser-based applications.

2.6 Promote adoption of accessibility standards for internet sites and browser-based applications at a Queensland Government level.
