Our organisation
Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) was established in December 1999 to provide a strong focus on disability across Queensland Government. It replaced the former disability program that was part of Families, Youth and Community Care Queensland.
DSQ is the first disability focused department in Queensland. Central to ongoing reform of disability services, we represent a new way forward for people with a disability and their families. We work closely with communities to enhance service delivery and allow people with a disability and their families more input into the policies that affect them.
Our responsibilities include:
- The provision of services and supports, both direct services (provided by the Department) and those provided through the non-government sector;
- Community infrastructure development; and
- Whole-of-Government leadership and coordination.
