Our Director-General

Welcome

I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) to help improve the quality of life for people with a disability.

Despite some machinery of government changes following the State Election, Disability Services Queensland remains a separate entity in line with the Government's long-standing pledge to develop strategic priorities for people with a disability, their carers and support services.

Disability Services Queensland is committed to supporting the disability service sector by facilitating and providing services and improving the quality of life for Queenslanders with a disability.

My priority is to maintain the momentum of reforms by implementing the Future Directions suite of initiatives. This includes directing the additional sector funding from government to deliver a better deal to people with a disability, their families and carers.

The department will provide enhanced or additional services to adults and young people so they can live in their communities. We will strengthen family supports and help build community capacity through a process of active inclusion and participation in all aspects of community life.

It is my intention to effect improvements concerning the viability, quality and accountability of service provision, and to ensure improvements to the quality of service provision. Accompanying these changes, the department will continue to implement key reform projects that will more appropriately address the needs of the disability sector.

This web site contains information on many of the reforms and initiatives the department will be engaged in over coming months. I invite you to take a look at and comment on the strategic direction the department is taking.
